aster aster:

A couple frost asters volunteered up on the West side of the house one year and have been expanding rapidly
ever since. I also transplanted a few New England asters from nearby dirt roads and they too are doing well.

I found clumps of asters in the ditches and dug up the rhizome ball and put it in a 5gal bucket to take home.
once home i carefully cut up the rhizome into 4-6 pieces and planted them. They continued to grow well but
didn't look very healthy the first season. After sprouting the following year, they really took off and are
doing very well. They get plenty of sun and are very popular with the local butterflies, wasps, bees, and
other insects.
